AQHA’s state, provincial and international affiliates are working together to promote the American Quarter Horse by sharing ideas and planning activities. By becoming a member of your AQHA affiliate, Connecticut Quarter Horse Association, you will have access to many equine and educational programs. From educational seminars to year-end awards, show programs, and leadership development conferences, Connecticut Quarter Horse Association has a program for the entire family. CQHA welcomes all people interested in the American Quarter Horse. The strength of any organization is its membership. Becoming involved in the Quarter Horse industry unites friends and family.
The Connecticut Quarter Horse Association is a non-profit organization of people and businesses engaged in the cooperative activity of aiding and encouraging the breeding, exhibiting, use and perpetuation of American Quarter Horses; promoting, encouraging and guiding all CQHA approved shows within the State of Connecticut, or CQHA sponsored shows outside Connecticut. CQHA provides beneficial services for its members which enhance and encourage American Quarter Horse ownership and participation.
In a typical year, CQHA holds five of its own AQHA recognized Quarter Horse shows, and sanctions some eleven more within the state. All shows are open to any AQHA member, showing AQHA registered horses; CQHA members also earn state points towards year end awards and titles. The facility at Falls Creek Farm in Oneco, CT is the site of most CQHA show circuits.
CQHA also sponsors an AQHA Trail Ride. Check our website for updates on this event.
Each year, CQHA sponsors two Youth Teams which compete at the AQHYA World Championship Show in Fort Worth, Texas, and The All-American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio. A scholarship program, administered by AQHA, is available to college bound CQHA youth members.
CQHA is a dynamic and multifaceted organization with much to offer the owners and breeders of American Quarter Horses. For updated information, log on to www.cqha.com. Won’t you join us?
